Camera Labs

As the weather is preventing any deep-sky imaging I am getting on with some photomicroscopy. This is a 42-frame (full frame with a Canon 5D MkII) photomicromosaic of a Curcurbits stem (cross-section) at magnification x50. The image shown here of course is massively downsized from the 25,000 x 23,000 pixel original TIFF file.

Wow, I agree, really detailed, good job. I bet Flickr didn't allow the full-size image to be uploaded, right?
By the way, do you put the images together yourself or do you use an automated program to do it?

I use the Photomerge function in Photoshop CS3 to stitch these all together - it took it around an hour with my quadcore 2.6GHz 8 Gig of RAM windows 7 64-bit system. I think the main file was over 4 Gigs. In future I will try to keep mosaics to about half that size if possible.
