over in the feathered friends thread, the posts mentioned setting in Lightroom 4.
here is some of what I generally use. I personally don`t like to over do it when it comes to sharpening, noise reduction or masking. For me personally it can make it look too much like its a painting. I also don`t like the plasticky look or over sharpened look, but its all just personal preference.
Here is a picture of a Corella, I then applied the general setting I use. If you are curious why I reduce the yellow and green in the saturation panel, its because yellow in particular can be overdone. Especially in architectural or landscape photos reducing the yellow in the saturation panel, while keeping up " presence " - vibrancy, clarity and saturation seems to give a more pleasing result. But I am still experimenting and keen to see what works for others.
