Hi! I guess a Sony would be as good as a Canon, maybe focusing could be a little bit easier due to the excellent live view of Sony. Problem is though, that in the early days every astronomer had a Canon, so many Canon accessoires are on the market (adapters, remote controls etc.). That's why you should look a bit more at Canon if youre really into astrophotgraphy. For simple shots from a tripod any DSLR will be good though!
