Check out the red version of this camera here:

What do you all think of it?

Although I wouldnt personally pick a red camera, I think that looks are an underrated feature of entry level cameras. I think that if you like the look of a camera, you are more likely to go out and shoot. So I think its good that Canon have introduced colours to their line up.

Got to play around with this camera for a while today, and it turned out to disappoint me a bit. First, the grip felt way too small for my hands, and the lack of any rubberized parts bothered me quite a bit. It feels plasticky, kind of like how my SX20 feels like, and that's exactly what I'm looking to avoid. Putting that aside, I think it is a pretty good camera, I couldn't test the AF system because someone broke it somehow before I could test it out
I think it's a good camera for it's price, but ergonomics should be improved, I felt discomforted by them.

Not wishing to sound cynical but my impression when I held the 1100D was that Canon skimped on things such as the rubber grips and ergonomics (namely the relocation of buttons to reduce the number of circuit boards) not just to save costs but to make the 600D/550D look more appealing.

Well it is probably true, I mean the costs of those little details aren't that much, to be honest. Probably a marketing strategy, I don't really know
