My latest photography-related purchase was two admissions, for me and my wife, to Kelby Training's One Light Two Light one-day training, in Houston, Texas, taught by Joe McNally. I found it to be both informative and entertaining. My wife was extremely fatigued from having worked the night before the event, so we skipped the last hour, which involved mixing studio lights with Speedlights, as neither of us uses studio lighting.

Tamron had an exhibit table in the lobby outside the training room, and my wife was quite impressed with the 60mm f/2 macro lens for DX cameras.

Canon Rebel T3i/600D with the kit 18-55mm lens. Bought it in a bundle with a 16GB card, carrying bag and lens cleaning kit. I'm waiting for it to ship as there are some items in backorder :|

Used the Amazon link on Cameralabs and nabbed a new 5D2 for $1529. My willpower is weak. :? On the bright side, I think the 40 mm pancake will be alot more fun now.

Edit: Wow, I ordered Sunday morning and selected the slowest, cheapest shipping (free), and they already shipped it out by that evening. Not expected with the holiday rush and recent bad weather.

Merry Christmas Rob (& everyone else  )

Only 8.30pm here, so have a few hours sleep before Santa gets here.

Quite strange for us this year. Shortly going to Skype our Daughter & Family, who are in Melbourne, while our Son & his wife are on holiday in Los Angeles. Continents apart & not even celebrating Christmas at the same time.

Thought it would be impossible to top the iMac I ordered on Nov 30th this December since my budget has decreased quite a bit :) , but I managed to order something I am now looking forward to even more. Placed on order yesterday for a rather special photo book:

Image

[Click the image to see the book on Amazon.co.uk]

Measures 64 x 50 x 15cm and weighs a whopping 11kgs. It's signed and hand-numbered, plus a limited edition of 1,500 copies.
I saw it on a short get-away to Düsseldorf last week, and fell in love with it instantly. My collection of Erwitt books is already quite large (currently consisting of eight titles*), but this will be the ultimate addition to the collection.

(*the rest include: Rome, Paris, New York, Unseen, Sequentially Yours, Personal Bests, Snaps, and Kids)
