My Sony DSC-HX5 took a swim a few months ago and since then have been trying out cameras to replace it. The most frustrating thing that I seem to be running into is that it would seem something changed in tech between the time I bought my last Sony to now. All the pics I've taken although landscape shots are great, when it comes to people, as in taking family shots in the living room.....everyone looks shorter and fatter....a lot. Sales people keep telling me it has to do with wide angle lens but honestly, I can't be the only one who want to take everyday family pics. This is not a question of money but I seriously need some advice and as quickly as possible. I've tried Sony DSC-HX7, DSC-HX10 (that one was really fat), Panasonic Lumix SZ20 and a Canon Powershot 240. I lean towards Sony because I really liked the camera we had but I truly need some advice. I do have my DSLR but I don't take that around with me on trail or just to pick up for a quick shot. Please send me thoughts. Has something changed? Why am I getting this shorter/wider distortion from these cameras (truly my daughter looks like she shrunk 5 inches and put on 50 lbs). Advice Please.

Just a thought, what are you viewing your pics on? Widescreen settings?

I just download the pics to my Mac and view them either with Preview or iPhoto. It's what I've always done with my cameras.

Would you mind posting some examples here so we can see? Maybe it's your monitor or something :|

You can open a free Flickr account, it's really fast and easy, or actually I think even Facebook will work but it will take a little while for me to explain how to get the images here.

Ok, now to post them here, just click on your photo so you see it with the comment section and stuff and below the photo to the right you should find a button that says download. Right-click this link and copy the link and then paste it here like this:
NOTE: Let's just imagine that "{" and "}" are "[" and "]". You just have to replace the "{}" with "[]".

I hope it's clear as how to do it :)
