Looks like an excellent camera, thanks for the quick preview!

On featureset it is deffinately the strongest candidate among any m43, apsc or ff. IQ is yet to be seen.

Can't wait for your valuable review and your always useful comparison with APSC and m43 competitors!

Hi Gordon, I have been shooting with the GH1 for a few years and am thinking of a getting a new camera with better image quality. It's possible that the GH3 maybe it, but I hope I'd have more than 1 option.

My style of photography is such that I either shoot low or high and almost never look through the view finder. So, a traditional DSLR is of no use to me.

However, both Nikon and Canon have now come up with multi-angle LCDs on their mid range DSLRs. But as far as I know and I'd love to be corrected they seem to be slow in focusing when using live view.

As far as an upgrade to my GH1, do you think that the GH3 is the only option, or perhaps something from Sony should be considered too?

How good is Sony these days, I know they had some problems with sensor heating before?

Hi SHIVA, good to hear from you again!

Yes, all DSLRs offer Live View and several have articulated screens, but as you fear, their AF in Live View is still much slower than most mirrorless cameras. So if you're used to the GH1, I'd stick with mirrorless.

The GH3 is the natural upgrade for you, but if pro video isn't your priority, consider the Olympus OMD EM5. It uses the same lenses as your GH1, has a vertically tilting screen, built in stabilisation which works with any lens you attach and is weathersealed.

The Sony NEX 5R, 6 and 7 are also very nice, especially now there's an ultra wide lens available. They also have tilting screens, although again, just vertically.

If you want a screen which flips and twists on a mirrorless camera though, it's really down to Panasonic, with the GH3 and G5, the latter being a great choice if you don't need pro video and weather-sealing.
