OK, this verges on buying and selling, so if a moderator doesn't like this, please by all means delete it. I like these forums and don't want to break a rule :D

So, I'm going to Afghanistan. Some of you have seen my post about getting a 5D to take with me. It has been a good friend who is helping secure the funds. Too good of a friend, the kind that plays jokes on one-another  . I'm trying to secure a NON-WORKING camera. A Canon body, something heavy would be best 10-20-30-40 so-on but any black body would do, that I can bustup in Afghanistan and freak him out that something happened. Heck, if you already have something busted up would work too :D

I don't have money to pay for it and that would violate the rules here but I will pay for shipping. Just shoot me a private message.

Haha. Make sure someone has a (working) camera pointed at his face when you tell him!

Good luck. 8)

I don't mind you asking to buy one here Mike - but don't blame me if it doesn't work! Er... hang on...

Have you tried searching ebay for broken EOS camera?

Search Ebay for a "mint condition, still boxed EOS[any model]" Chances are it will be busted. ;)

I've been watching ebay but they get just out of my price range. I gave it a shot and tried e-mailing Canon service and they were polite and said no, they recycle any busted bodies and also suggested ebay.

I came across a for-parts 40D a few days ago on my local Kijiji, I believe the seller was asking $35 OBO. Craigslist is a good place to start looking for these things, and if you can't find them, even a used 10D or older model would work well, they can be had for <$50 if you shop around.
