I have noticed lately my d90 seems to be taking very cold photos on auto wb and have tried using a grey card without alot of success, I have to admit I haven't played alot with the grey card. I went hiking today with my family and took lots of pics. Here are some examples. They are the jpgs set to standard but with the saturation boosted 1 notch in camera. I can fix this with raw but I don't want to fix 250 pictures. Any suggestions on settings or if it might be something wrong with the camera? The last photo of my daughter, her skin looks almost grey. That photo I have tweeked in photoshop elements with raw but it still seems off. I'm not sure if part of the problem is the screen on my computer, I'm using an HP laptop and depending on the angle of the screen, a picture can change a lot.

I don't think there's anything wrong with your camera, actually the problem might be your screen, it might be either unbalanced and it requires calibration or something is wrong with the angle your looking at it. The colors in the last one look quite vibrant to me and the other 2 don't look cold at all. Try seeing the photos with a different display, maybe connecting your camera to a TV or using a different computer, I expect that to work.

I will try that. Thanks for the reply the last one had been adjusted on the screen i am having problems with so it may be over vibrant.

You're welcome!
By the way, that last one's colors look pretty nice to me! :D

Colours don't look too bad for me either. As suggested, your monitor may need calibrating?

Like pierover said, try a different monitor. I just got a new Toshiba laptop and the output on my Acer monitor is different. The girl on the laptop looks vibrant colours whilst my Acer 24” screen displays more orange on the flowers face and dress.

Looks like I’ll have to do some tests and get a few printed to compare what I think is right.

Cheers

First photo looks to have a too bright background at the forest edge but the other two photos look pretty good to me.

Cold? Anything but, in fact, the last one may be even a little warm. Looks fine on my monitors.

ive got a twin monitor setup, a pva and an ips and they dont look cold on either of my monitors, they look just right to me on the ips panel and a little warmer on the pva panel

so id go along with the rest of the guys and put the blame on your monitor
