The Nikon 70-200 f4 was just announced at a price point of $1450 CAD. A little over what I was hoping, but about what I was expecting. However, does Nikon seriously want another $225 for the tripod collar? Come on! This should be included with the lens, not tacked on as some overpriced accessory, especially when third party variants should be available on eBay for 1/10th of the price.

I got a third party tripod collar for my 100mm 2.8L IS USM lens for about 1/10 of the original - no problems with that. Well - no optical elements, just a piece of plastic / metal. I can't believe the production costs more than 5$. :|

For original Canon collars, the prices too are very, very high. That made me buying a fake for $5 which works great...

Lens hoods are similarly just as over priced. Canon for example asks 30USD + freight for the ET-65III for 100mm f2.8 amongst others. On ebay, just about 2$ with freight... :p

I got a fake ring for the 70-300L and it... certainly could be better in most places, but then again it was a LOT cheaper... similar for hoods. Copies don't have internal flocking. Whether you need that flocking, is another question...

hmm, been thinking about finding a replacement secondary camera body for my 40D, 40D itself isnt great anymore. I think I probably would replace it with a 5D Mark III or 6D

also been thinking either those or a Nikon D800.... dont really care about brands anymore tbh... its all the same xD

I just brought the camera into the shop to have it sent away for a few weeks to Nikon. Its inability to fire off camera flashes finally got to me, so here's hoping that everything works fine when it comes back. However, it definitely won't be easy going without a camera for 5-6 weeks :|

been thinking about getting an additional lens for my concert photography I always use my beloved 24-70 2.8L but sometimes it just doesnt reach... perhaps a 135mm f2L would do the trick :)

Been watching the news lately and I thought I'd ask. How are you guys that live in New York and around doing? Is it too bad for you?
On TV it looks quite bad :?
