Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum, but I have been following the tutorials by Mr.Laing on how to use a DSLR.
I have Zeroed in on buying a Nikon D3200 Dslr, how ever I would like to take the advice of people who are professionals or who have a good eye on which lens to choose.
Now the D3200 model that I am getting in India comes with a choice of 02 lens, firstly is the 18-55mm VR kit lens and the Second being the 18-105mm VR kit lens.
I would like you all to suggest me which lens to go for and what would be the ideal telephoto zoom lens which would compliment either of the above mentioned lens.
I have identified 02 zoom lens in the process namely
AS-S DX NIKKOR 55-300MM F/4.5-5.6G ED VR
and
AF-S DX VR ZOOM NIKKOR 55-200MM F/4-5.6 IF ED

I hope for a early and favourable response from you all.
Thank you,Have a great day.
Joseph Thomas

When I bought my D90 a few years ago it came with the 18-105mm lens. This was good quality and served me well as a walkabout lens while I was learning.

I soon coupled that with the 70-300mm VR telephoto zoom. This is probably the best bang for your buck in the up to 300mm range.

I don't know what you budget is though.

I know of a few friends who bought the D3100 with 18-55mm kit lens and liked it. They generally went for a 55-200mm lens with their first purchase.

I'd personally recommend the 18-105 over the 18-55, and holding fire on purchasing a telephoto zoom until you know if you really need it. Then reappraise.

check the filter size for the 18-55 and 55-200 and 55-300

18-105 and 70-300 are 67mm
