Hi everyone,

Please check out two superb luna eclipse images by Noel Carboni himself!

http://www.newforestobservatory.com/

The New Forest Observatory was completely clouded out - plus the event took place at 3.00 a.m. in the U.K. Noel had kinder Florida skies - and a much more reasonable 10.00 p.m. working time :)

Greg

Hi Greg,

Thanks for sharing. I wonder if Noel could share wit us how he processed this image? There's lots to love about it but I am also seeing colours that I don't recognise (perhaps I should?) and which I can't reconcile with pre-eclipse colouration from the penumbra.

Bob.

P.S. Like you my eclipse here was total and caused by my eyelids. :)

Hi Bob,

I don't want to give Noel any excuse for not slaving away over our images for the coffee-table book - especially as we have a camera-copy deadline just a couple of weeks away.

But as for the colour, I can tell you this is obtained by pushing up the saturation. Noel did an absolutely superb hypersaturated image of the Moon [a mega-mosaic, very high resolution] about a year ago. This image was so stunning that it was used by one of the HDTV manufacturers to "show-off" their screens.

Hope this helps.
Best,
Greg

Thanks Greg. I'm going to spend some time looking at that image with renewed interest.

A coffee-table book? It is forum policy that members don't use the forum to directly promote their commercial ventures but I reckon members who regularly browse this section will be interested to have a look at a couple of downsized example images on your web-site. Perhaps you could post a couple when the book is published.

Bob.

No intention of promoting the book on this site Bob - the publisher will be handling all the promotion for us :)

For those of you that haven't seen the hypersaturated Moon image from Noel Carboni - I have just put this up on the NFO site.

Best,
Greg

Another beautiful shot! Ah, I can almost see myself sitting there, dipping my toes into the azure blue waters of the Mare Tranquillitatis, gin and tonic in one hand and that coffee-table book in the other.

It would be kinda of hard to photograph the moon from the moon don't you think Bob? whats would your new hobby be, photographing earth maybe? or from your new vantage point going for mars?
