Thanks cujo, I'm still not feeling too well but my friends, family and let's not forget the Cameralabs community have cheered me up with their nice words, thank you for the concern

.
The Sony RX1 (full-frame fixed 35mm f/2 lens) is overpriced compared to the Nikon D600 (full-frame, similar pixel count). The RX1 is mechanically and optically much simpler and, with only a contrast based AF, arguably electronically simpler as well. Both the RX1 and the D600 can draw on a large extant body of R&D drawn from other cameras so I'm forced to believe that Sony are charging a premium price for the RX1 not because they must but because they can.

I'll be getting one only because I'm upgrading from a 3GS. If I was using a 4S, I probably wouldn't since it's really just an incremental update from the 4S.

EDIT: ... and, the only reason I'm upgrading is because my iPhone is busy dying. Got it wet recently, and it's not the first time, or second...

Ugh, another iPhone? I'll stick to my plan of buying the Lumia 920, that Pureview camera looks awesome, and it really stands out in a sea of fruit phones and Galaxies. Besides, Windows Phone 8 looks too cool to pass up, it really is a refreshing OS.

Nothing impressive specwise.... I bet it will be a rip off again, but hey, after all its Apple!

They still have terrible battery performance as they always had.

And how could they skip NFC?

It's nothing short of an anti-climax for me. (I refuse to buy into iPhone because of the closed and restricted nature of what's supposed to be a "smartphone")

Even if the leaks and strong rumours hadn't come out, I don't think that would have made the difference. It seems like the iPhone 5 was designed to play catchup with the competition whereas previous iPhones were the game changers that the competition had to catch up to.

I'm sure the fanboys/fangirls will still laud it and that it will be the biggest-selling phone of the year but I have no regrets with my GS3 I upgraded to a week ago.

I agree there's nothing really impressive specwise. But I'm impressed how they made it a lot faster, improved the screen, the camera and the speakers + microphones, meanwhile they've made it thinner, lighter and less volume.

But battery performance? The 4S had 9 hours of Wi-Fi browsing (not impressive, but not bad either), and the 5 has 10 hours - just like the Samsung Galaxy S3...

And NFC? Who uses it these days? I'm sure Apple will add it, if it becomes relevant.

For those who are disappointed in the iPhone 5, I just stumbled upon this video explaining change - both iPhone/tech wise and in general.
