hello everybody, hope every one is enjoying the last days of summer photographer.

i need some advise im planning on buying 5d mark iii but here is the problem there are few bundles i can buy where some bundles are useful then other and the cost of some bundles are cheaper then buying the product individually. i'l explain further what i mean.

initially i was planning on buying the body only and lens separate but i soon realized that the ef L lens are not cheap and i dont have the budget to buy it straight away to use with camera.

so i thought i l buy the body and battery grip £2,222.00 and buy the 50 mm 1.8 lens£ 79.00 separate to save money.

but he im saving £4.00 for the body and grip bundle so i thought why not buy the 24-105 lens with body to save more money and buy the grip later on because it cost £209.00.

so what you guys think shall i buy the body and grip and 50mm 1.8 or buy the 24-105 f4 is usm with body.

this is my first time buying dslr and i dont work so i dont have big budget on leans at moment.

i want to practice on all sort of pictures (portrait, landscape, wildlife/nature and macro) because i might be working with someone very soon has second assistant for wedding photography to learn with him.

Well... the 50mm 1.8 has a great image quality but that's about it. The 24-105mm is much more flexible, has a better build quality and so on. Personally I guess I'd prefer te 24-105mm.
I'm going to buy the grip later on. The camera itself works without the grip and a good lens is very nice. Yeah; I prefer to use a camera with a grip but that's hardly a problem for a while until I can afford the grip.

with the 24-105 f4 is it possible to get the bokeh affect or do i need lens with maximum of F. 2.8 to get that affect also would this leans be ideal portrait.

i know that the 50, 85 and 135 and 100 macro are great for portrait and 24- 70 are good for weddings but because i dont have enough money to buy those lens and that they are specif to the certain task.

im not sure about the 24- 105 its general purpose lens and its on good offer with 5d iii body, its L lens, IS and USM and it telephoto lens which for me has beginner is great to get close ups and wide shoots but its f4 not sure about portrait with this lens.

on the other hand the 50mm 1.8 is ideal for portrait and i think image quality is better then the 24-105 telephoto zoom lens because it has less glass and ist cheap £79.00 compared to the 50 mm F.14. which is up for £250

but what else can i use the 50 mm for?

has my first lens what shall i go for any suggestion?

If i am in ur situation, i will go with 24-105 kit

Attached with a FF camera, f 4 is good enough to produce good bokeh, (if u place yourself in s good position-- will produce great looking portraits. f2.8 is better! but f 4 is not worst at all)

EF 24-105 is one of the best general pupose lens canon make for its FF camera, its both mechanically and optically a graet partner to 5D mark III
It will give u lot of flexibility

50mm is too wide as a portrait lens on a FF body

I dont thing 50mm f1.8 is marginally sharper than the 24-105,, but 50 mm will give u close to 2 stop advantage

24-105 is a good way to go as a only lens,, for all ur purposes

ok i think for my first lens il go with 24-105 shot/ medium telephoto lens and then go for 85 and 135 fixed focal lens later on when i have the budget.

thanks alot guys for your advise and if you any other suggestion e.g 3rd party lens please let me know haven't done any research on 3rd party lens.

Well - there's the Tamron 24-70mm VC USD...
VC = IS
USD = USM
It's weather sealed, sharp, fast and the only 24-70mm with an IS. Still it's quite short when compared to the 105mm of the 24-105mm. And it's not only the aperture that makes the bokeh but it's the focal length as well. So at 105mm f4 you can get a blurred background that's *similar* to 70mm 2.8. So personally I prefer the additional focal length over the 2.8 aperture; especially as ISO isn't really a problem with the 5D3.
