Haven't been here before in this thread - I don't do much flower or macro photography, though I've been trying it more lately with my last few lens additions.

Yesterday, I came home from work and we had been having rain showers off and on all day. The sun had just broken through, early evening, and this tree in my backyard was glistening with little drops. I was looking for more excuses to test out the Minolta 300mm F4 APO G lens I picked up last weekend, so this provided the impetus to try it. Camera was DSLR-A550:

Quick play using the articulated display on 600D for a lower shot than I'd get conventionally.

Looks like this tread is dead :( . There is one I shot about 2 years ago, shot outdoors under a cloudy sky with no artificial light. Darkening the background was done later since there was a wooden fence clearly visible.

Love that bird of paradise....

I'm new to this forum and thought I might post something. Here are a couple of photo's taken locally.
I use a flash with a small soft box and a light diffuser to block the sun. My camera is a Canon 5DIII and the flash is a 600EX with
the remote radio transmitter. I do use a tripod as well.

When I first started I had a hard time with red roses getting washed out. These came out better.
