I actually had never thought about this, but I actually know so much about DSLRs and photography in general and I've been learning such things since 2009, but I still don't own a DSLR.
Basically I just have a huge knowledge that I can't actually use in any way :/

I was the same way. I took a whale watching trip and knew I wanted more from a camera. I started reading up on dslrs then went to Afghanistan and that is where I found this site. It was nearly 18months from when I decided to make the change until I finally got one.

For me the same

Oh, but I had (have) my great Panasonic FZ28 with full manual control and RAW which let me learn a lot.

I'm quite dissappointed that i most likely wont be able to go to Oslo this upcoming weekend :(

The Airforce, RNoaF is having a jubilee show for the 100year aniversary of the first military flight in norway.
they listed the planes that will be there: E3-A AWACS, jubilee painted F16, P3-C ORION, C-130J Hercules, Dassault DA-20, Sea King, bell-412, Spitfire,
C-47 Dakota, Vampire, Harvard, Saab 91 safir, Tiger Moth, PT-19 Cornell, Cessna birddog and a DHC-1 Chipmunk.
and the frigate KNM Fridtjof Nansen.

im felling my inner plane geek getting exited :P

I was in the same boat (not the literal one, I haven't been whale watching in years! ;) ), I took a trip to Florida a few years back, and was disappointed seeing the results on my television after the fact. Not only was the quality terrible, but the technique of my shots could've been improved.

I started reading about DSLRs, and learned quite a bit from my father who'd been an enthusiast many moons ago. I shot many rolls of film on his Nikon FE and Leica M3, and eventually saved enough to pick up a D7000 and lens on sale.

Don't worry, save for long enough and pick up a good body and nice lens. You won't regret it!

Apparently spammers prefer spamming in the "Off Topic" forum, now why would that be?

Visited the Leica Store in the Bellavita in Taiwan today. And tested a few of the well known film Leicas such as the: M3 (1954), M2 (1958), M5 (1971), M4-P (1980), M6-TTL (1998) and M9 (2009). Also the amazing medium format Leica S2 with the Summarit 70mm 2.5...had a lot of fun in that store! :D

Makes me long back to the times I visited the London store. Got to stop by Meister Camera in Berlin this summer though, which is basically a full Leica store, with a couple of vintage models too.

Starting my master next week, will be studying Marketing Management for a year. Should be great fun!

Looks like we are planning to attend the first weekend of the Albuquerque NM balloon fest :D Might rent a 15-85 for my T2i/550D and a 70-200 f/2.8 is L II for my 40D. Gonna have to work that one past the wife, she is nervous about renting expensive stuff like that

Im thinking i need to get a polarizing filter ...but do i spend my money on the expensive versions or the cheepo end of the scale... seems to be a series of circular filters at the $20-40 range then up to $70-100 range.

?????????

Would you put a two bob lens on your camera.? I paid $70 for a 72mm Hoya :D from B & H in the US, for the first year it was at home now I have it in my car, it would make a world of difference with your fantastic landscapes and just a small amount of tweaking if any in PP.

Cheers
