Hi everyone,

I've got these photos of some birds/ducks (not really sure) and I don't have the slightest idea of what they are. Could some one tell me what birds/ducks they are?

PS: The first one is the one I'm most interested in.

First one is a heron.
2nd one... some kind of duck, but I'm not familiar with the specific type but I can flick through my ducks of the world book later. Edit: My guess is Black-bellied whistling duck
Last one I should know too as I've seen them in a zoo before, but I can't remember right now...

Your first bird is a great blue heron.

The ducks are indeed black-bellied whistling ducks.

The last ones appear to be willets.

All are birds which occur in Mexico.

Thanks for confirming the ones that had already been pointed out by popo and thanks for giving me the name of the last ones. Also, if you wanted to know anyways, the first three photos actually were taken in San Antonio, Texas, while the last one was taken in Acapulco, Mexico.

I saw you were listed in Mexico, so assumed these were shot there. The black-bellied whistling ducks are also common in Texas and Florida, where they migrate up from Mexico. The great blue herons are a widely distributed bird in North America.

I wish we'd get willets here in South Florida though - I've never seen those in person.

Well you could someday come visit Acapulco, I've seen the willets there every summer, but I've never seen them in winter, maybe just bad luck, but still I think that if you'd like to see them there it's best if you visited Acapulco in summer. I don't know where else you can find them so don't ask me for advice!
