We purchases the Canon EOS Rebel T2i which came with an EF-S 18-55mm f/ 3.5-5.6 IS II. We also purchased an EF-S 55-250 mm f/4-5.6IF II. Was the EF-S 55-250 mm f/4-5.6IF II the correct extra lens to purchase. Is there something in between

Anyways, the 55-250 IS II complements the 18-55 IS II very well. They are commonly sold together.

Not sure what you mean. They both can zoom @ 55mm.
