I just bought a Tamron SP70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di VC USD a few days ago and I absolutely love it.

As for future purchases, most probably a flash. I'm looking at the Nissin 466 for now. Also looking into a BlackRapid Sport 2 strap. Maybe in August if all goes well. I don't expect any new lenses until next year, but an extreme wide angle will probably be my next lens.

So now I am actually giving some serious thought to picking up the Sigma 1.4x teleconverter for my macro lens.
Since I have not used a teleconverter before, I found a copy of the Sigma for a decent price.
This way if I do not use it that often, I will not have wasted as much money on it.

The more I read about the Fuji X Pro, the more I am leaning toward it being my next significant camera+lens purchase, unless Canon introduces something similar rather soon, that will work with EF lenses. The X Pro has moved, tentatively, to the top of my 2013 wish list. It is not that I plan to stop using DSLR cameras, but see the X Pro as a complement to the DSLRs.

I had the chance to handle the Fuji x-pro, but the autofocus is verry slow. Just like the X100. so beware.

Still very much undecided but I think my next purchase will be a Canon 5D2 with 70-200mm 2.8 IS II. It's either that or a 5D3 If I go for the first option a 5D3 will have to wait until the price drops.

Thanks for the warning. I have been paying attention to the AF issues. Luckily, I live quite near a dealer, and can handle a camera extensively before buying. Plus, before I will be financially able to buy, there will probably be firmware updates. The history of the X100 indicates the X Pro will improve, too.

Moreover, I have some practice with zone focusing, with manual-focus Nikon lenses, on both my Nikon film cameras and Canon DSLRs, the latter with a Novoflex EOSNIK adaptor. When the distance to the subject is known, one sets the focus distance, using the scale on the lens, and selects an aperture that provides ample depth of field for the size of the subject. This even works with moving subjects, when one waits for the subject to enter a pre-selected zone.

One blog I found through the scoop.it site is authored by Charles Le, who shoots weddings with two
Canon DSLRs and one or two Fujis, because he prefers the Fuji for some shots. (Edited to add: He shoots with a 5D2, a 7D, an X Pro, and an X100.) This seems like a good idea for me to incorporate
in some of my shooting, though to be clear, I am neither trying to present myself as a professional
wedding/event photographer, nor have an assistant standing beside me to hand me the perfect
camera. I would, however, appreciate one smaller camera, as I sometimes shoot with two DSLRs
now.

As I recall, when shooting weddings, Charles Le prefers the 5D2 for action, and the X Pro for posed shots and candid shots of stationary live subjects, though he posted some excellent images of
dancing shot with the X Pro.
