JUNE 22nd - The poll is closed now. Big congratulations to dingo27mobile for winning this assignment!

Hi everyone! Welcome to May's Assignment!

The theme for this month is "Panning photography", as suggested by kimchi who won the March 2012
competition. Be sure to read the whole post for the rules.

In kimchi's own words:

The rules!

1: You can only submit one image and it MUST be taken during May 2012. Photos taken earlier will be disqualified!

2: All images submitted must be no more than 1024 pixels on their longest side, although you can include a link to a
full resolution version if you like. Flickr users must link back to the original version to comply with its latest rules.

As always, please exercise good judgement on what is suitable for the forum. Keep it clean and family-friendly or it'll
be removed. See the Forum Rules for guides.

Please include a sentence or two with your photo describing what you were trying to achieve and if there were any
particular challenges in doing so like, for example, any special exposure or lighting setup.

We're all enthusiasts here, so it's also great to see what equipment you used and the settings too. So please also
include the following:

Camera Model:
Lens and focal length:
Aperture:
Shutter Speed:
Sensitivity:
Post processing:

Submissions will close at midnight GMT on 31st May 2012. The final poll will follow.

Please remember this thread is for submissions only. If you'd like to comment on any of the submissions or ask any
questions, please do so in the May 2012 Comments and Questions thread!

Thanks and good luck!

Bjorn

CAM LABS by Elmore Photography, on Flickr

Taken this afternoon as this lady woodpecker departed with her treat. It's dogfood! I don't know why the woodpeckers and the blue jays prefer the dog food to the sunflower seeds..but since they do, I try to make it available. Cropped, and since I had my camera set on "landscape" colors, I desaturated a little. Sharpened.

RAF Tornado GR4 aircraft regularly fly up the west coast of Scotland to bomb the hell out of an innocent small island near Cape Wrath.

I'm sure they use my house as a navigational fix.

Lens too long (300mm), 'plane too fast, and too close, so I just depressed the shutter on motor drive and frantically tried to stay with it.

I think it's the best you're likely to get from me this month!

A school party was at the beach, bright sun, very cold water. Testosterone-driven teenage boys (reeking of 'Lynx' no doubt!) seeing an opportunity to impress the girls, sprint for the sea. The girls as you can see are literally and figuratively ... unmoved. What this shot does not show is the boys shortly afterward shrieking in agony when they hit the water then retreating double-quick back to the beach. Much to the girls' amusement.

Taken in the mountains along CA Route 33 north of Oaji. I love all the reflections and especially the background blur- great idea for an On Assignment!
