Since Bob mentioned it elsewhere I thought I'd have a go at it tonight. Cloud moved in not long after I set up though, so I only got 5 usable exposures of 2 minutes each. Unmodified 600D, Astronomik CLS filter, 135/2 at f/2. 100% crop. I really need a lot more focal length, but wont be usable until I do my mount upgrade.

How much more focal length do I need to throw at it? Well, this is the full version before cropping...

So Bob, how did yours go?

Hi popo,

I managed 3 x 1,000 second green subs. Together with previous evenings I now have about five or six such subs in each of red, green and blue so I can now think about processing. The quality isn't that good though as my mount doesn't track quite well enough for such long subs so close to the meridian.

The Pinwheel was just a time filler while waiting for the North America nebula to rise. Tonight's plan was 8 x 1,000 H-alpha subs but I'm being frustrated by the same cloud. The sequence is running so I'll stick with it until moonrise and hope at least a few subs are good. This is part of this summer's plan for a four panel mosaic using the TEC 140.

Congratulations on your own capture.

Bob.
