Today I went to my local camera shop, and knew exactly what i wanted. because of the fine folks on the site, and a few others.

I asked to hold a Cannon 7D and a Nikon D7000. But i already knew i wanted the Nikon. When I told him I wanted the Nikon, he went to get a kit, and I told him to take it back. Body only this time.

You see. I came from a Minolta Film back ground in the 90's. And was an early adopter of the Minolta 7D digital camera to go along with a host of Minolta lenses I already had. Sadly, way back in 2008 i dropped my Minolta 7D on a trip to Hawaii. I didn't have the money or time to switch systems, so for the last 4 years I have been living with a Sony Alpha 200 and my 15+ year old Minolta lenses.

The wife granted me permission to do the "big" update. I was not ready to go full frame, so the Nikon D7000 is what I chose.

I also picked up 35mm 1.8g (prime), 50mm 1.4g (prime), and the 55-300mm VR (zoom).

Needless to say. I made my sales guy happy today. I look forward to posting here as i get back into a hobby i went away from for many years because of the toy camera i was using.

Congratulations re your new gear! You'll sure enjoy it but perhaps will miss the wider end below 35mm focal length.
Keep us posted how you do!
