Hi just buoght the
SIGMA DC Macro 17 - 70 mm F/2.8-4.5 second hand on my nikon d90 how do i get below f4

with the 70-210 i set ap at 22 and camera does the rest

Hmmm - might need a little more info, but basically run the camera in aperture priority and you set any aperture you like.

Are you referring to an aperture ring on the 70-210? I'm not familiar with that lens, but there isn't one on the 17-70, is there?

Basically, you would run the aperture through the rear control wheel and all should be good.

yes it is a aperture ring on 70-200 have tried the 17-70 on a mode wont go below f4 in auto should it not pick the lenses lowest in low light

Just turn the Mode dial to ''A'', and turn the front wheel to adjust the aperture. That should work.

You need to do two things to get below f4.5:
1. zoom out to 17mm
2. set focus to infinity
Now use the aperture ring again.

just tried this lens on a d300 and would not go below f4 obviously something wrong with lens
