After shooting with the A-100 for about 5 years I have been looking at a replacement for this wonderful camera.

I own a few minolta lenses (24-85 3.4-4.5 / 70-210 F4 beercan 50 1.7) and the two kit lenses that cam with the A-100.

The reviews of the SLT's are ok, but not fantastic. Sure they are fast, but that is not the only thing that's important. I have some doubts about buying an A65 or A57 (they cost about the same in europe) Will the minolta lenses work well for video? (A77 grip handles nice for sure, but menu's are slow??)

In case I need silent focusing lenses it's like starting all over again. But will I stay with Sony or buy a Canon 60d or maybe the upcoming Nikon d5200 both with tamron 17-50 2.8 and 70-300 4-4.5 usd?

Main reason for me to want to change is the noise with the A100 above ISO 400 and the poor display on the back. Next to that I would like to use live view, cause wearing glasses makes low angle shooting unpleasant (looking into the viewfinder over your glasses for a couple for shots, so you can't be sure if the focus is ok).

So which camera will make me most happy? None of them is perfect, but who has some advice for me.

In your shoes I would spring for a used A850 or A900.

You would be extremely satisfied with the A57, A77, A65 as well.

I have a soft spot for Sony. I still have my A100 and my Konica Minolta SLR, when I was looking a upgrading there was nothing in Sony that interested me at the time. Now I would happily buy a SLT A77.
What are you not happy with in the reviews?

I guess at the time I felt that there is more lens availability at a better price point going to Canon. It still appears, that considering that they don`t have an image stabilisation in their lenses, that the Sony lenses are overpriced in comparison to Canon for example. However I like what Sony is doing and like where they are taking the market. Its good to have another player in there. Now I have committed to many dollars to Canon and staying with them.
