Hello everyone!

I want to by 70-200mm F2.8 lens, i looked at Tamron and Sigma. I decided to go for this :-

Sigma APO 70-200mm F2.8 II EX DG MACRO HSM

and add Sigma 2.0X Teleconverter EX APO DG to my basket.

Has anyone tried this setup, and will it work?

Cheers.

It isn't the sharpest option, even with the Nikon 70-200 F2.8, so unless anyone you know has this combo & is happy with it, I wouldn't say it was the best option.

What are you intending to shoot?

well, I am not earning money with photography, it's just a hobbie. Probably some birds, car races, pets - something like that :D

That's the setup I have. It's not stellar, but it's okay.

I'll get you some sample pics if I can.

I've tested the combo today at the local zoo, and I have to say that it produces quite good quality for the price... As an amateur I don't need to get any better pics.
There is still a nice sharpness in the photos and I can't see a major drop in image quality from using the Sigma 2x tc.

I tested the combo in the newest album called "Korkeasaari talvi kevät 2012"

Hello buster, and welcome to the friendly Camera Labs forum!
To enjoy your stay here please have a look at the house-rules!
----
Your images from the zoo look quite nice. And I'd advise anybody having a look at your album to use the slider in the upper right corner and click on the largest bar: That will magnify the photos for better viewing.
Is there any way to get to the large originals from your photos, buster?
