Hi everyone, for those who've not noticed yet, my preview now includes sample images, sample movies and a high ISO comparison with the 5D Mark II!

http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Canon ... oise.shtml

PS - capital, there's lots more tests and results to come. I will try and include some very long exposures, but can't guarentee it!

Gordon, will you do high ISO RAW tests with no NR? I want to see the performance of the sensor/processor alone, not mixed with the noise reduction algorithms

I really like the preview, especially the sample images. I cannot wait to get my hands on this camera.

just checking out the sample images, the high iso performance is impressive. Certainly very good to iso 12800

I've now added some astro-photos to my sample images page which prove the early 5D Mark II's black dot problem is not apparent here!

Damn you canon! damn you all to hell!

Had my beloved 7D stolen and was about to dash out and buy a new one when I stupidly looked at the 5DIII previews. If the GF doesn't kill me the bank manager will :(

Oh dear. Having sold my 5D2 because I want to downsize I made the mistake of looking at those 5D3 sample images. Maybe I've just been shooting Canons (make up your own jokes at this point) for too long but even at default JPEG settings those samples look gorgeous.

But no, I'm definitely looking for a CSC and now that I've got some dedicated astrophotography gear even gratuitous images of the southern sky aren't enough to make me change my mind.

Bob.

Hi everyone, I've just published my full set of Nikon D800 sample images, which you can compare with those from my existing 5D3 gallery:

Nikon D800 sample images

I'll have a formal noise comparison soon...

Gordon, thanks for the preview! Everything I read about the Mk III validates my decision to skip the Mk II, and wait to see what the III had offer.

Has every one seen the high ISO shots taken with the 5D3 (and D800)? What are some complaining about with the 5D3? Lose of detail at high ISO?? Samples, such as those taken by Gordon, look fine to me. Even vs. the D800. Any one disagree??

You can lock the control wheel with it. :D
Doing so you can't accidently change the aperture in the manual mode for example. Personally I don't really lock the wheel.
