Wow lensbaby that is extremely tragic to hear... Sony is coming out with an updated 70-400, and they may be doing the same with the 70-200. Are you holding out for the A99 fullframe SLT in hopefully September?

I'm still undecided as to which way to go in this situation. I've really considered the A900. Personally, I have found noise levels to be really problematic with high ISO, so I'm looking about for the best bang for the buck.

Personally I don't find noise to be an issue with the A900/A850- It is easy to suppress using proper exposures and NR in lR3/4. I use this camera regularly at iso 4000 (event photographer- lots of mitzvahs and weddings) and get usable images 99% of the time.

The color and DR of the A900/A850 is worth a little extra noise, not to mention the ridiculously awesome viewfinder.

As predicted here is the upcoming 70-200 G II : http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr5-also ... w-roadmap/

Thank you for the link. I'm most likely looking at the A850 or A900 since they have been discontinued and I have an array of lenses. However, since I love wildlife I may also be looking at a used D3 which has amazing focus tracking ability and higher speeds. My hope is that with the release of the new D4 and D800 these prices will drop as well. We'll see. As far as landscape and stationary subjects, the color and DR on the Sony is superb, and I wouldn't have to learn or purchase into a new system. I'm going to have to look up all your posts now to see what you have done with your full frame camera.

Thanks for pointing that out Ivan! I always make sure everyone is in the poll, and since djfsolo remembers it was there too, I can think of only one reason it disappeared: the new forum software. Somehow, it changed the poll. I've tried to resolve the issue, which resulted in the votes being reset (that was unexpected... ). If everyone here is honest (and I know we're a bunch of honest photographers around here) we should be able to add old votes to new votes and get complete results that way.

As there haven't been any new votes since the situation described above was resolved, and as I am leaving for London early tomorrow morning, I've gone ahead and closed the poll for the February assignment. That means we have a winner!

Please join me in congratulating Lensbaby!
