Camera Labs

Hi,
Im a newbie and just got myself my first DSLR, the canon 600D with a 10-22mm Lens, Hoya Cir-PL Filter. I will shortly be adding a few more lenses to my collection (once I can afford to). Im also very keen on diving and will be looking to purchase the Sea on Sea RDX-600D underwater Casing.

Now to my question, does anyone know which backpack would best suit my needs with the equipment i have/want.

On another note, does any one have the Hoya Standard Cir-PL Filter, how do you rate it and how does it compare to the Pro1.

As someone who is always looking for a camera bag, I can tell you that the gear isn't what determines the kind of bag you need so much as your use. The questions you need to answer are:

• Do you need it to be waterproof or weatherproof?

• Do you mind if it looks like a camera bag? Does it have to look good? Or do you want it to be more discrete?

• Do you need to carry other personal gear as well? If so, what else and how much?

• How long do you need to carry it generally? How much can you carry for this length of time?

• What’s the absolute minimum gear it has to carry? What’s the most is needs to carry?

• Do you need constant access to gear? Or is it just moving your stuff from location to location?

• Does it need to go on a plane with you? Will you be taking regional planes?

These are all things I figure out before I start looking. Otherwise, there’s just no end of choices. Sadly, there is no One Bag To Rule Them All.

Re: filters. Don’t know about these in particular, but generally, the more expensive the filter, the better the glass, the better the image. Filters often reduce image quality by adding slight color tints, reducing local or overall image contrast, or physical vignetting, but cheap ones more so than expensive ones. Pay for the better filter if image quality is important to you, is my advice.

Okay, to be a little helpful (though you've probably long abandoned this thread), I've been looking at the Clik Elite backpacks. They're not attractive (to me), but they look like regular hiking backpacks and not camera backpacks, and most lines seem particularly designed for rugged outdoor adventure use and come with rain covers.
