Just a quick calculation: 4800 pixel rows for 24mm sensor hight deliver a resolution limit of the 36MP sensors of 200 lines per mm b&w and 100 l/mm in color for the D800 (140 L/mm b&w, 70 L/mm in color for the Leica M9).
As good lenses still have a respectable contrast at 140 line-
pairs per mm (stopped down), even a simple calculation would lead to a sensor resolution of 280 lines/mm.
BUT to sample this subject-frequency w/o artifacts you need double the resolution, i.e. above 500 lines per mm. Which would lead to a
200MP (!) 24x36mm sensor.
As long as we are so far away from an ideal sensor (resolution-wise) AA-filters will still be needed.
I for myself have at last decided to go for the D800
with AA-filter.

P.S.: A T-Max 100 b&w film has still an contrast/MTF of 50% at 100 line-pairs!
