Camera Labs

Hello everyone! This is my both my first post on the forums here and my first attempt at getting a nice photo of some star trails. I've always been fascinated by anything and everything having to do with space, stars being no exception. So a couple nights ago when the sky looked clear I brought my gear out to a nearby field in the hopes of getting something nice. I can tell that it's definitely the beginning of a long learning experience, as I had no idea how much exposure time I needed, or that my orientation with regards to the pole mattered (duh, in retrospect).

Any thoughts comments or tips are much appreciated!

Very good first attempt. I think that the tree in the forground really helps to add some perspecte. Csn i ask how long that exposure was?

Thanks guys. Yeah of course, Muzza96 the photo is made of 29 separate 30 second exposures. Having never done this before, it seems like 20 total minutes of sensor-time might be a good number, giving enough trails without having to sit out in the cold for overly long.
