An excellent preview, Gordon.

Because the standard pixel would now have 6 cells, while the Bayer pixel is 4, will the new cell be 2/3 the size of Bayer's (6*2/3 = 4) if one wants to have the same pixel capacity (for a given sensor size)? If so, the new Fuji cell may have yet another performance "squeeze" to deal with.

Don't understand many people's comparison with Leica. In my memory Fuji delivered so many bummers I for one would not preorder XPro1 except to play with it and return it (which I am not in habit of doing). Gordon nicely uses the word 'claims' and a need to have one for a real test. Leica comparison then comes from the real and possibly envious Leica wannabees.

Me? GF1w/20mm

Hi Mike,

It looks like you've hit the New Topic button instead of Post Reply so your question has got orphaned. Unfortunately I can't merge the threads.

I think the answer is that for most real world subjects (which contain some green) resolution should be better than for a Bayer matrix with the same pixel sizes because there's no low pass filter on the X-Pro1. And though the total proportion of red and blue pixels is slightly lower than for a Bayer matrix my guess is that resolution will be just as good, again because there's no filter. But that's theory so, like us all, I'll await Gordon's review eagerly.

Bob.
