This overall series is outstanding! What do you think your keeper rate is?

As far as the 3 sunsets, I like the 3rd (the one you call 2nd with the white car) which if I'm right, is a Dodge Viper. I like the color of the sun. Something about the color or blur on the sun in the Porsche one throws me. Or honestly comparing them, the Porsche one might be throwing me because of the size of the photo. As I scroll up and down I only see "SUN" then the car, where the other I like is small enough photo I can see the whole thing on my screen at one time.

EDIT-I saw the Porsche in your blog and the photo is smaller, I think that is part of the problem, the one here is too large to see the whole thing and that does kind of throw it off. You start off by seeing this large out of focus sun then you scroll a little further and see the great shot of the car.

Man, I know pulling 24-hour duty in the Army sucks, I could only imagine what it is like as a crew member with the stress of the event going on.

SO who won, the Mercedes or Mustang? :D

Great photos both of you :D

Just out of interest how did you get the passes did you buy them or are you working there? I am hoping to go to the F1 at Silverstone this year and would like to be somewhere where I can get decent photos.

Great shots from both of you guys!

All of them were great, but i especially enjoyed the gulf-coloured car, iangandertons first sunset and the picture of the lone wheel in the pit lane.

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appricated

I write for a Dubai based magazine, Outdoor UAE, so got the press pass for that reason. My photo and short bio appears on the editors foreword page and I used that when I applied. For an event like the F1 you'll need a press card I'd have thought

Mike- I'll resize the first sunrise pic. The mustang wine it's class despite spending a chunk of time in its garage. In the top class the podium was a mercedes SLS 1 2 3

In terms of keepers that's a difficult one to answer. I guess I posted 10% of what I shot but could have posted a lot more. I certainly learnt a lot this weekend and my panning became pretty damn reliable with 75% sharp enough and framed ok. There is sooooo much good material at an event like this and with the access we had the problem is more about whittling it down to a reasonable number of images to show folks. I probably have a 1000 panning shots on my hard drive!

Thanks - it was good fun.

This one's slightly different - had to close down to f14 to get the slower shutter for enough blur that I was after - I prefer the black and white version of this more, but here's the colour shot:
