is their customer service.

224$ for a loose Hotshoe and because they like to use cheap glue on the d700s.

it took them two days to put my camera in the shop.

Even I'm located only 12 miles away from the Nikon HQ in El Segundo, I still have to talk to a call center in Florida.

There is no way to patch me through to talk to whoever I need to talk to.

Interesting! Perhaps the "grass is greener" on the Canon side?

If anyone thinks I am trying to start a fight, please look at my signature line. :) If the menus were not so vastly different, I would probably shoot digital Nikons, too.

Not really. In order to get the card slot of the Canon EOS 30D (fire department) repaired we had to wait months (!) and paid around 200€. For not so much more we could have bought a used 30D.

The BEST service I ever got was from Olympus sydney. I took my flash gun in that I dropped to see if they could fix it - it was playing up, where I had to hit hte flash to get it to charge and the front IR unit was cracked.

They looked at it and it was NOT under warranty - they said that a normal service fee for them was $150 - 200 bucks.... I said wow I paid 400 for my flash, so they looked at it, charged me 150 for a new flash unit.

I think thats giving the customer a fair go imo.

they won me back the other day.

upon picking up my d700, i found out that they replaced the whole front of the camera, the rubber, the apron, and mount. along with the hotshoe and electrical board.

I also dropped off my d7000 for fine tuning (i'm sure you've heard me whine about inaccurate AF on it). The guy threw in a free sensor clean as well.

As of right now the D7000 is under the B2 repair bank, meaning moderate parts replaced.
