Canon 550d with 18-135, 55-250 lens kit. Sling bag is nice, too.

My wife is getting me a $30 tripod for x-mas.

Thomas, don't skimp on the tripod. I got a $30 tripod and my 550d with my 18-125 did a nose dive and now my flash won't pop up without help. Manfrotto makes a nice compact model mkc3-p01 that i paid like $60 for. Well worth a few more $'s

2x4GB ram modules for my laptop via amazon affiliate link. It was getting a bit tight on usage with only 4GB in it currently... nice to see the modules have fallen considerably in price since I got the laptop which is why I didn't go straight to 8GB then.

Thanks. From what I have read it is pretty much as quick as any SSD but it is very reliable which suits me well as once I have finished I don't plan on spending money on computers for at lease a couple of years. The ESD wrist band was only £3 so I thought it would be worth it just for the extra sense of security.

.
32GB BlackBerry PlayBook to go with my BlackBerry phone. Prices have dropped to crazy levels as RIM seems to be dumping stock - here in the UK that model is now available from several retailers for £199 and the 16GB model is even cheaper. The UK BB site has the details.

Bob.

Damn it Bob, stop giving me shopping ideas! The main reason I've resisted a tablet so far is I have no idea what I want one for, other than to play with. So that rules out the high end expensive ones, and also the cheap ones which are a lesson in "you get what you pay for". This playbook thingy seems cheap enough and good enough though... but still doesn't address the "what do I do with it?" part. Quick google of review says 9 hour battery life, maybe down to 6 playing video (better than any laptop I have anyway). Lack of apps seems to be the biggest gripe, although a near future software update will bring support for Android apps. So... do I or don't I?... and as I don't run a BB phone I don't get that side integration benefit.
