Camera Labs

This is a fairly poor image of the IC405/IC410 region in Auriga. Poor, mainly due to it being only 4 sub-exposures (although they were 1,000 second subs!). At least I now have a good idea of the FOV of the complete 2-camera (M26C) 2-scopes (Sky 90s) mini-WASP array. I did an earlier shot of this region with the M25C and a Sky 90 and have always been cheesed off that I didn't quite get both nebulae in the frame. Well no problem framing with the mini-WASP - just need a lot more exposure time. Now waiting for the next clear night - could be a long wait

The Flaming Star Nebula is on my own list of future targets (camera pointing at 5h 25m, +34° 30) for a wide-field exposure with the 165mm focal length f/2.8 lens. Still waiting for the TEC 140 .

Hi Bob,

Fingers crossed Well you'll certainly cover the whole region with a 165mm lens (even if the sampling won't be anything to write home about). The Sky 90s are 405mm focal length and with the M26C give me 3 arcseconds per pixel which is fine for wide field work.

3 arcseconds per pixel is something I can only dream about as the Pentax lens offers about 11 arcseconds per pixel with the ML16803. A 400mm focal length f/4 might be on the cards in a few years time when I've saved up a lot of pennies but I think I'll have more than enough imaging to be getting on with with the current Pentax lens and the TEC 140 for a long while. By the way, as I write FLI currently have a picture of my setup on panel 6 of the flash animation at the top of their website's index page.

Even if the forecast is accurate we've had so much rain here today that I worry that it'll get foggy locally if the skies do clear.

Pouring with rain here at the moment - hard to believe it might clear tonight - but that's what the satellite image says

P.S. One of those 29Meg Prolines on the back of a 400mm medium format prime lens would be the business!!
