Hi all,

I was wondering if there are any useful tips for spot metering using the Canon 7D.

Particularly, I find that the camera always seems to meter off a spot somewhere near the center.

I would like to configure the metering location, i.e choose the spot within the frame, if that makes sense.

is that possible? Any help would be appreciated.

thanks :D

1. Set the camera to spot metering.
2. Put the center circle in the viewfinder on the spot you want to meter.
3. Half press the shutter release button
4. Press the AE lock button (marked with *)
5. Now the metering is locked on your chosen spot for about 4 seconds
6. Recompose the frame to your needs
7. Shoot.
