I'm looking to add a decent fish-eye lens to my arsenal. Nothing too expensive, just something to play with landscape and some architectural photography. So far, the Samyang 8mm f/3.5 looks great, and it's relatively cheap ($350) http://www.dyxum.com/dforum/topic60015.html
The Rokinon 8mm is even cheaper at <$300, and I believe Samyang makes it.

One thing that annoys me is the chromatic abberation, which both of those lenses have terrible amounts of.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Isn't the Rokinon just a Samyang rebadge? Samyang rebadge the lens under several names.

CA is common in fisheyes. The only other cheap fisheye is the peleng but I think that went out of fashion when the Samyang came on the scene.

At that price point I wouldn't hope for much better CA. The samyangs/rokinons are fantastic for their price. I do not think you will be disappointed.

Ok, another question. Since Samyang makes a ton of rebranded lenses, are the Samyang 8mm, Rokinon 8mm, and Vivtar 7mm pretty much the same lens?

As far as people have been able to tell, there doesn't seem to be any significant difference between them, even if they call it a different focal length.

The Rokinon was $250 today, down from $290 just earlier. Picked up one! :D
