If you think the colours look odd, they are. This was the first time I saw the bird table in use. I didn't have time to switch lenses or anything. Hesitate and it'll be gone. I just grabbed the first working camera to hand and started shooting. Snag is, the camera was the one I used the night before trying to get Andromeda again. So it was the one with IR block removed and also had a light pollution filter in place. The colour balance was... probably somewhere outside LAB colourspace! I tried to make it normal looking as possible, but the IR pollution alone means it is practically impossible.

“Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder”

While they do have a sort of prehistoric look they can be quite striking in full breeding plumage.

I've been traveling and out of town, so no birding for a while - but just before the trip I also picked up a new camera. Today I was hoping to go out birding, but instead was greeted with 90% chance of rain, heavy overcast, and off and on downpours, so no chance to go to the birding spots. Fortunately, some birds visited the front and back yard, and it was a nice opportunity to test the new camera in bad light. Needed ISO1600 for these, and all were shot JPG - the new camera likes low light even more than my last one!:

All were with my Minolta 300mm F4 APO lens with APO II 1.4x TC, mounted on my new Sony A580.

There are rumors that I have my 100-400mm lens glued on my camera body. But that's not true - how should I upgrade my camera in that case?
