I've never focused much in the past on landscapes and never considered myself having an "eye" for framing these types of images. With that in mind I attempted to spend at least some time this past summer focusing on landscapes. The following were all taken in the Rockies between Waterton Lakes National Park (Canada/USA boarder) and the northern reaches of Jasper National Park.

I still don't consider the shots all that great but I do like em for something to look at years from now... anyways... thought I would share.

Didn't use any filters, tripods or anything special for these shots... just my 50D with a EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM attached to it.

Lots of pics...

This was the view outside the hotel room one morning during the golden hour. It was a cloudy day and as the sun broke the horizon it peeked through...

Image

Another early morning shot... Mountains. Mist, Water and Ice. With no practice on these types of shots it took some time to find the settings to not have certain areas blown out or other areas too dark. This was actually the case for most of the following shots of snow and glaciers. It took quite a bit of time to figure out how to capture the image without having the snow blown out. I'm sure HDR would have helped a lot in this case but it is a style I'm not really into. Needlss to say I learned a lot.

While in the Athabasca Glacier region the weather was bad to say the least. Heavy overcast skies with rain and sleet lead to these 2 shots. I've got plenty of sunny day shots of this Glacier in the past so this was kinda fun. I actually like how they turned out. Again, weather doesn't always have to be good for some interesting shots...

Really good set wolf, I particular like the golden colour of the early morning shot, a ripper. Some great scenery up there.

Cheers

Excellent pics! The golden light in some of them really is beautiful! You're truly a talented landscape photographer, perhaps it's time to invest in a wide angle lens like a Canon 10-22 or Tokina 11-16?
