The conditions didn't allow for a spectacular shot... but here it is. Please Critique.

I cant help but look at these from a climbing perspective so for me its lacking the drama it could have had. The problem is finished and the guy is show boating. I dont know the problem but the same shot a move below this point would have be a great climbing shot despite the conditions.

I like the way the flash highlights the climber in an otherwise drab landscape. It might be a bit too obvious but the colours work well and it separates him from the landscape. It looks like a spotlight and works just as well as a spotlight

What flash set up did you? Where is the flash and how did you trigger it? I'm interested in learning more about the use of remote flash for exactly this kind of use.

I do have a couple shots of the whole problem, but this was my favorite.

My flash setup was quite simple. It was mounted on my tripod on the rocks blow. It's been cloned out in this edit. It was located around the center of the photo on my tripod on full extension. The flash was an SB-600 in command mode triggered by my on camera flash on my D200.

Good shot - just wish the conditions were a bit better though.

Good shot, but consider gelling your flash. For instance, gelling it blue would allow you to alter the whitebalance to still have a white flash on the subject, but with a more orange sky/ambient.

I take pictures so quickly, my highschool was "Continuous High".

Interesting, never thought of gelling to produce that effect. Ebay, here I come!
