Hi folks,

I'll cut straight to the chase - here's the link: The Photopic Sky Survey.

Great fun to whiz around and zoom in and out of but it might also be of interest to budding astrophotographers as a tool to find interesting bits of sky to capture. Zooming in shows that the final resolution of the image is limited so it's not as though hours spent at the telescope are just going to replicate what's already available on the Photopic imagery.

According to the about page "the Photopic Sky Survey is a 5,000 megapixel photograph of the entire night sky stitched together from 37,440 exposures".

Even more impressive is that the entire thing was produced by one guy, a Mr. Nick Risinger. Chappeau, sir.
