I have an old Minolta 7000 in my cupboard for 20 years or so, with it was a 28-85 Macro lens + a 75-300 AF Zoom lens, I read somewhere that a Minolta fits all Sony A mounts? I opened the Sony A580 this morning and
tried on the lenses prefect fittttttttt and boy was I jumping up and down!

Now Ebay sells those camera's for £40-70 with those lenses (BARGAIN)

20 years ago I used that camera, and only for a few months.

today I shot my 1st with these lenses, and I was IMPRESSED, Pictures to be uploaded soon

Congrats - indeed, any Minolta Maxxum or A-mount/AF lens will work on a Sony exactly like a brand-new Sony lens - autofocus, meter, even stabilization.

After looking at your magnificent photo's Sony beats the hell out of any other's in this price range and beyond.

Thank you - most kind. I think the camera market right now is a pretty amazing place - you can't buy a bad camera nowadays, and the variety is fantastic - something for everyone. As other brands do, Sony has their strong points and unique features, and I've found they work well for me and my shooting style - probably more important is for the photographer to feel comfortable with the camera they have, get the right lenses, and learn to use 100% of the camera's abilities - master all that, and the brand won't matter! Few of us are masters at everything, and I've got lots of learning and improving to do, but enjoying the ride!

Congratulation on your new gear! It's good to see that manufacturers honor the investment of their customers in lenses. Because lenses are built for much longer usage than the bodies.

I was going to buy a Nikon, and I thought most people here says there no good, now I put on my reading glasses I can see they say... Nearly as good
sorry my mistake

Unfortunately, no boats or ships owned by me. Just a frequent passenger! I generally like to get out on the sea and cruise at least once a year - I'll be leaving next month for 14 days, cruising out of Quebec all along the eastern Canadian and US seaboard back to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where I live. Both cameras will be coming along for the ride.

Sensenmann 30999 is absolutely stunning, is that straight out of the camera, or touched up with a program?
