Any help gratefully received.

I've recently (past week) upgraded my laptop to Win 7 Pro 64 bit. Downloaded Picasa 3.8 yesterday but it seems to be triggering something that is causing a crash that causes a shut down.

Just before the computer shuts down there is an error box that appears only just for a glimpse. I think it says something about an exception error.

After a bit of googling I think it could well be a driver causing the problem

Can anyone suggest a way of finding what could be causing this

Is this a clean generic windows install? Or something custom for your laptop?

If a generic one, usually I make sure all the drivers are installed before I even look at the software applications. As it is a Dell, is there a service tag on the laptop? If so, put that in their website and it'll give you applicable drivers. Otherwise you'll have to search for the model.

After the drivers I then do windowsupdates, then do applications.

can you describe a problem little more?

i am using picassa for few years and did not have any problems with that.

your pc crashes sfter starting picasa, quitting it, doing something with files... ?

it would be a good idea to block all import folders, and only choose custom ones when you create some new, its much less time and pc power consuming
