Thanks for the links

I can get one new from jessops or the sony shop at £630 or £530 from canada including shipping but uk sony wont honour the warranty. I think the build quality is drawing me towards it.

If i did get a adapter and another lens, say a sony one, will the auto focus still work? i've read that it does but its slow....7 to 10 seconds somtimes slow. Could any of you guys shread some light on this?

I would be using the zoom for wildlife and also automotive shots including car drag racing at santa pod etc, i realise by fitting this huge lens i'm hardly beefiting from the small size of the camera in the first place but its not like i would be using it everyday....

Also as i'm new, am i better off getting to know my 16mm and 18-55mm before jumping in the deepend and spending £500 plus...

Thanks in advance

You may also want to hold on for just one more day...rumors point to a Sony announcement tomorrow of another eMount telephoto option - the SEL55-210mm OSS. This lens won't have the wide end reach of the 18-55, but will also be lighter and significantly cheaper. It appears to be about an inch longer than the 18-200mm overall, but also about 1 inch less in width, and is rumored to be around $250 US.

Personally, I'm waiting to hear more about this lens, and may choose it over the 18-200 if the optical quality is good, since it is so much cheaper and should be quite light.

Just for the sake of clarity, the lens Justin referred to hasn't been announced anywhere yet ;). It might be announced tomorrow...

Yep...that would be the one that *should* officially exist as of tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to more about it - somewhat odd-looking in one way...it almost looks like an internal zoom - but I'm pretty sure they couldn't get a 210mm in that space - but I'm hoping it doesn't have to extend as far as the 18-200, as it doesn't have to cover that wide a focal range.

And now it's official. Retail price $350 US, about .3" longer than the 18-200 but extends about 3" less overall when fully zoomed, about 2 inches less diameter around, much lighter.
