I would probably use the 24-70. I am guessing it is not dark between 5 and 8pm in Florida now so you shouldn't need that really wide aperture. The 24-70 will allow you to get really wide shots for group photos and you can use 70mm to get a really shallow depth of field for individual shots.
If it is too dark for 2.8 you should definitely use the 35mm. Take both with you. Just out of interest what other lenses do you have and what camera are you going to use? Something like the 85mm 1.8 would be perfect for individual portraits.
