Here's what may be the 1st photo of a PRO model NEX-7 with the A77's 24mp sensor and viewfinder.
Maybe the ultimate street shooter.

A body like this might be the first serious "DSLR replacement" the mirrorless fanboys keep harping on about. Sony, how about some more lenses while you're at it? :)

You're convincing me! :D This is looking very good indeed. Any word on the size of the body? It looks a little larger than the NEX-5 in relation to the lens mount but not hugely so.

Bob.

I'm quite interested in that 55-210mm lens, though a bit peeved that the EVF for the new NEX5 won't be compatible with the existing NEX3/5.

The NEX7 is certainly interesting - main thing is to see if focus is improved to closer-to-DSLR performance, and if battery has been improved for more 'pro' like life.

If the NEX-7 is at par with the A77 performance wise, I may move to that system altogether and get the best of both worlds.

It's certainly an interesting concept and I'm sure image quality will be excellent.

But the form-factor works against it, in my opinion. It's been "compactified" but its still not compact. Nor will it very lightweight.

To me, it begs the question - why this one and not the A77 itself?

...it will be interesting to see!!!

Because it'll be far smaller and lighter than the A77 ever could be ;) ? Sure, it won't be as small as, say, my NEX-5 or so, but still :)...

I'm thinking it will be a Leica on steroids. As the features and price have leapfrogged it many times over. And you should be able to put Leica glass on it if you so desire.

Rumour also says that the rrp will be somewhere between US$1000 - 1100 for the base model.

I think they'll also need to release a few more and/or better quality lenses for this mount for it to be really considered a professional's choice.

The only reason Leica is so worshipped is the lens selection.
