I've always thought about a topic with the camera bag/backpack/case Layouts, since everyone has different layouts it gets pretty interesting ^^

Hmm, perhaps add "layout" to the post title?


Here's my layout. The bag is a ThinkTank Speed Racer, with some pouches. It's a waistbelt-ish system, but still has a shoulder strap. Very modular.



Left part contains my D2H with a prime mounted, under that resides my D90 as backup/second body. Right part contains my flash unit and 70-200 2.8.
Between the dampening material and the outside of the bag, I have the bag's raincover, and a rain poncho.



this is the front part of the bag, containing batteries, chewing gum, business cards, proper earplugs, lens tissues, lens wipes, a notepad and a pen.



This one is just to show the modularity of the system. Here I've added one pouch, but for larger assignments I walk around with 4 pouches (2 on each side).

I keep my bag simple. I carry this Giotto bag 90% of the time otherwise I carry my Lowepro Fastpack. Since I shoot street primarily, I don't carry much. Inside you'll find my D3100 with the 35mm attached and then my Tokina 12-24mm on the side. The front pocket contains my SD card holder and the other front pocket contains a plastic bag, some napkins, and some sugar tablets in case my blood sugar gets low while walking around the city.







And that's it! Like I said, I don't need much

I try to travel light, so obviously I don't carry all of this at once.

here's an overview of my bag:



The bag itself is the Lowepro Slingshto 202 AW. I have my Nikon FM with a 28mm 2.8 (what it's usually mounted with) and its cable release to the bottom left, my D7000 with the 16-85mm mounted onto it (with the excellent Cameralabs strap of course) to the right and my 50mm f/2 sitting next to it. Below, you can see my two 4GB Class 6 San Disk SD cards. To the far right, the two lenses are my 200mm f/4 and my 55mm f/3.5 micro with the PK-13 extension tube next to it. To the left, you can see my Gorrilapod SLR Zoom in the bag's top pouch, along with my Canon Powershot A460 (at least the A460's bag, I used the camera to take the photo), and finally on top of the mag is the ML-L3 infrared remote control.
Not shown: Manfrotto tripod

Here's the view of my digital layout...



I have the D7000 with the 16-85 in the centre, with my 50 and 55 micro to the right, and my 200 with a PK-13 to the left.

Everything's the same as the digital layout aside from the FM with the 28mm in the centre.

Finally, here's the bag's top pouch...



I have my Canon Powershot A460 with my Gorillapod SLR Zoom. I also keep my IR remote in there.

Sorry for the bad image quality by the way, I never realized how much I hated shooting with my compact.

A have a Lowepro case that just holds the Canon EOS 500D with the lens attatched, and the following contents.

Body cap
Lens cap
Hot shoe spirit level
Wired remote
Cleaning pen

I sometimes think about changing the case for something more compact, but I don't really travel much with the equipment.

For now i dont have that much accesories, so in my Vanguard (whatever name) bag i have 60D with 18-55, 430EXII, some microfibre, car wash and lens cloth - each for different use, Hoya HD filter, some cables, manuals, little paintbrush (mostly for removing dust from that filter) and thats about it.

I think i am overusing that bag, because it feels it will crack from that weigh one time.

Well, well... I put more things into my small bag than you should expect it could fit.
To say it a different way: My bag is too small. Definitely.

Well - that's my bag - the camera next to it is just for getting an impression of the size:



Inside that bag you can find:
- Canon EOS 500D + battery grip
- Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS + lens hood (the lens with that Tramron lens cap which is just better than the original Canon one)
- Canon EF 50mm 1.8 II
- Canon EF 100mm 2.8L Macro IS USM + lens hood
- Canon EF 100-400mm L IS USM + lens hood
- Crappy flash gun Nissin Speedlite Di466
- Some batteries
- remote shutter release
- USB cable
- microfibre cloth


Well - most of that stuff here:


And well... it's quite hard to squeeze all of it into that "little" bag.
Small comment: When my sister first saw that bag she said something like "THAT is a camera bag? Nobody would carry something this big around just so shoot photos!"

Well... don't know when I first played Tetris but getting all of that stuff into the bag was similar - just 3D.




At least it works for the moment but as soon as I get my next lens and / or a bigger flash gun I'll have a problem

Easy for you to say with 2 lenses
Sometimes you go in without knowing what to expect, and you need to bring everything you have. Not fun, but not as bad as finding yourself with empty hands, knowing that the lens you need is right at home.
