The first one looks like a "tree-hugger", Jiko.
And the one from Murray looks really cute!

Another new species for me from this summer... golden-mantled ground squirrel... its habitat is high alpine regions...

It was a very hot day and that squirrel just lay (all legs hanging down) there for a while.

Testing out a new lens for my little mirrorless camera, I took it out by the poolside while swimming one day on the chance something interesting would happen by to shoot - and this squirrel came up to grab some sunflower seeds I had left out for the birds. So he became my test subject!

Shots with a Sony NEX3 mirrorless, and using a Konica K/AR-mount Vivitar 200mm F3.5 lens - manual focus only, with manual aperture ring - old style. The NEX3's focus peaking system makes fast manual focus very accurate and easy for such targets:

I also spied this one a few yards away, hanging out on my fence...so I snapped one of him too:

Just one of my Alaska people  out on the Campbell Creek Trail, a beautiful Green Way in Anchorage

Here it looks like a nut or seed but from the ground we thought he was getting leaves. He just did slow down enough for me to get this shot
