Hello,

I want to buy a megazoom camera. I am a little confused between canon powershot sx30IS and Panasonic Lumix FZ100. The FZ100 looks interesting as far as the features are concerned but I am not sure about the picture quality and glitches associated with it. Could you please suggest?

Regards,
Ananth

Hello folks, I am looking for a megazoom model, but with so many opiton in the market these days, it is hard to pick the right one. Any advices on which has the best over photo quality (best resolution, sharpness, low light, etc):

Sony Cybershot HX100V
Panasonic Lumix FZ100
Nikon Coolpix P500
Canon SX30IS

Or does it make more sense to buy something like a Sony a33 or a55? Does the quality get much better in these models than it does in a megazoom?

Thank you!

You can't really compare the Sony alpha models to the megazooms you listed for no shortage of reasons.

I'm no expert on those megazooms but I would imagine that the Sony alpha models could offer potentially better low light performance due to the larger image sensor and the generally greater degree of manual control but with that said, low light performance and image quality are almost hopelessly dependent on the lens you put in front of the Sony alpha bodies or any ICL camera for that matter.
