Got back from my first surf trip to Oman. Took my 550D with its kit lens and also borrowed a friends 400mm f5.6 lens while I was there.
I took loads of photos, a most of the surfing shots using the continuous shoot. This morning I pulled the images off the card and ran some through Picasa's very basic but simple post processing. Images have had horizon lines straightened, had the hell cropped out of them and then had the "I feel lucky" button pressed.
On the whole I'm pleased with the results. The images reflect what kind of experience I had.
The environment was a tough one to take photos in. Distances to surfers were long hence the cropping. Sun was fierce and hence the blacked out underexposed faces.
While I'm pleased with the overall results I'd be really interested in knowing what you guys think. I want to be a better photographer and any constructive criticism and advice would be gratefully received. Particulatly interested in what you think about the composition.
What are your thoughts on such heavily cropped images. From my point of view its fine for viewing on a screen but obviously wont print well. I'd rather have lovely hi res images but the lens required for that wasnt available and isnt likely to be until I win the lottery I dont play :p

There was a blue rubbish bag creeping into the shot bottom right which is why Piedro's feet have been cropped a bit.
I like this shot a lot
